New Jersey residents know how powerful a random act of kindness can be, which is why the Nutley Department of Public Works’ “RAKES” program is returning for its 17th year.
RAKES stands for Random Acts of Kindness Extended to Seniors. Local volunteers offer free leaf raking and bagging services to residents who are 60 years old or older, as well as people with disabilities.
RAKES takes place on Nov. 22 and on Nov. 29.
Applications are due this Friday. More information can be found on the
DPW’s website.
More than 100 volunteers took part in the program last year, helping more than 75 seniors.
