A “Jersey Proud” get-together will take place in Freehold on Friday.

Carmine Steffens, 17, started a nonprofit called Happy Hearts. Every month, he gets volunteers together to pack care packages for hospital patients and caregivers.

Steffens started the foundation to honor his grandparents. He says they inspired him to want to comfort others during difficult times.

Happy Hearts has delivered over 1,000 care bags to dozens of hospitals and they are about to do it again. Friday night’s packing event will be held at the Co-Cathedral of St. Robert Bellarmine in Freehold. CLICK HERE to sign up to help.
