A Neptune man has been posthumously nominated to the Football Hall of Fame.
There is a statue of Sam Mills outside of the Charlotte, North Carolina NFL stadium. He played for Montclair State back in 1979.
He was never drafted, but wound up playing with the New Orleans Saints. Despite being 5 foot, 9 inches tall, he was an All-Pro.
He then helped North Carolina win a Super Bowl. Sadly, Mills died of cancer in 2005.
He is one of 15 finalists and only five will make it. The NFL will be releasing the names of those enshrined on Thursday.
