The United Railroad Historical Society in Boonton just refurbished a 1947 Railway Express Agency truck. It was shipped cross-country on a flatbed from California.
REA trucks were as commonplace in the ‘40s as Amazon trucks are today. They were associated with railroads because that's how stuff moved around the country.
This one is believed to now be the only restored one in New Jersey. They plan to take it to fairs and car shows in the near future.
