A rising junior at Mount Saint Mary Academy is making New Jersey proud by leading by example.

Sofia Maciejewski recently earned her Eagle Scout rank. She is a founding member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 280 in Chatham. It is a group that started with eight girls and now has 51.

Maciejewski has hiked in Mexico, braved river rapids and spent more than 100 nights camping – all to earn her Eagle Scout rank.

Maciejewski also built a bridge to help hikers at the Green Village Conservation Trail.
