An athlete from Flemington is going to be representing Team USA in the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Speed skater Kimi Geotz graduated from Hunterdon Central High School 10 years ago. Since then, she started training full time with the goal to play at the Games.
Geotz experienced the heartbreak of missing out on two other Olympic teams, but she stayed focus and kept working. Her specialties are the 500- and 1000-meter races.
Finally, she reached her goal and will be able to represent her nation in the 2022 Olympics.
Flemington residents will celebrate Geotz on Friday by gathering at the Lone Eagle Brewery and watching the opening ceremonies.
