It was the end of an era on Wednesday at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The KC-135 refueling plane is being retired to make way for the new KC-46.

Members of the New Jersey Air National Guard painted tiger stripes on their final KC-135 in service. The tiger stripes are a personal stamp because these airmen are known as the Tiger Squadron.

A final salute ceremony was held on Wednesday.
