The year was 1975 - Kathleen DiChiara did something that was very “Jersey Proud.” She started giving food to those in need out of the back of her station wagon.
It’s been nearly 50 years, and the gesture has evolved into the state’s biggest food bank – the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.
The organization announced that they have just distributed their 1 billionth meal.
Community Food Bank of New Jersey services 15 counties and has food warehouses all over the state. They distributed 90 million meals in 2023 alone.
