Taking a walk for a Jersey proud reason.
More than 100 people gathered in Camden for the 11th annual Sickle Cell Awareness Walk, bringing together patients, families, healthcare workers and supporters connected to Cooper University Medical Center.
Participants walked not only to raise awareness, but also to recognize the strength and resilience of people living with sickle cell disease and the families who support them.
Organizers say the annual event is an opportunity to bring the community together, educate others about the disease and celebrate those whose lives have been impacted by sickle cell.
For those taking part, the walk was about more than miles, it was about visibility, support and honoring the strength of the sickle cell community.
