A North Jersey-based nonprofit celebrated a milestone this month.

The organization Family Promise of Bergen County has been serving meals to the homeless for 34 years and just served their 1.5 millionth meal.

The walk-in dinner program began in Hackensack in 1991. The premise was simple - if you're giving them shelter, give them something to eat.

This milestone is a celebration - not only of all the good they've done - but the countless volunteers who've helped out through the years.

Family Promise has never missed a day of serving food in 34 years.
