Third grader Avery Ryan, of Cambridge Elementary School, has spearheaded a pillow and blanket drive at her school. She was able to collect 82 pillows and five blankets. The items are headed to a group that helps immigrants and refugees.
Ryan says that she started the drive because she had an Afghan refugee living in her house. She says that she noticed they didn’t have a pillow.
“I felt like even though we’re not a part of their family, we still need to help people,” she says.
Ryan’s teachers say that it is important to teach all students to be kind and helpful to others.
