A “Jersey Proud” program is getting more traction as it expands around the state.
They are called “Buddy Benches,” and two new ones just popped up in Burlington Township at Fountain Woods Elementary School.
The Buddy Bench Foundation is a New Jersey-based group that promotes inclusivity. If you see a kid sitting on the bench, other kids are encouraged to come over and ask them to play.
The concept is based on a children's book by Patty Brozo. The benches are a simple reminder to be kind.
