(01/24/06) JERSEY CITY ? Police in Jersey City say they?ve taken a huge step in a 16-year-old murder case with the arrest of the victim?s father.
Curtis McCoy was only two years old when his father reported him missing in 1989. The case eventually went cold until the boy?s mother pleaded with police to take a fresh look at the file. Although investigators initially believed their chances of finding the killer were slim, they say good old-fashioned police work eventually led to the arrest of the boy?s father.
Detectives say they grew suspicious of Curtis Williams after discovering he had been claiming his son on his taxes. Police believe they are close to finding the victim?s remains, possibly somewhere in the Hudson County area. Investigators remain tight-lipped about other facts surrounding the arrest due to the sensitivity of the case.
