New Jersey rivers and back bays are teeming with jellyfish right now.
August is typically when we start seeing these creatures, but they've been especially plentiful lately.
Many scientists say their population is increasing worldwide. Some believe New Jersey waters are warmer than usual, creating the perfect environment for jellyfish to thrive.
To keep the population at bay, experts recommend letting native plants grow on riverbanks instead of keeping a manicured lawn. While currents and water temperature play a role, lawn fertilizers that run into waterways are also known to help create environments that promote jellyfish.
