A stretch of Freehold Road called the "death trap" is being examined to increase safety, according to Jackson's town administrator.
Three fatal accidents in three years have claimed the lives of six young people on the road. Town Administrator Phil Del Turco says the police chief has asked the county engineer's office to survey the area.
"We are addressing this deadly roadway," says Del Turco. "It is disturbing to everyone."
The area in question is wooded where Freehold Road curves with a speed limit of 55 mph. At night, the roadway is pitch dark.
The addition of guard rails, cutting back trees and adding street lights in the area are also being discussed.
