A newly released video shows the interrogation of the three men charged in connection with assaulting an off-duty police officer at a Bronx White Castle. The officer later died after police were called in and shots were fired.
The video shows Nelson Rodriguez, Edwin Rivera and Daryl Massey telling their stories of what happened at the White Castle in January. Defense lawyers say the men were questioned willingly between 12 and 24 hours after the incident. The defense lawyers add that the statements on tape prove the three men were acting in self-defense.
Rodriquez, Rivera and Massey were charged in connection with the assault of Officer Eric Hernandez. A medical examiner determined that Hernandez died from gunshot wounds and that the defendants can?t be charged with murder. The PBA president says the men must be held accountable for Hernandez?s beating. The men are due back in court June 14.
