An industrial part of the Hunts Point waterfront will soon get a multi-million dollar makeover, according to the mayor.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NYC) announced Monday that the area is part of the planned South Bronx Greenway project. Hunts Point will get a portion of the $462 million allotted to beautify Bronx parks over the next five years. Plans for Hunts Point include adding more than an acre of open space and 2.3 miles of streets lined with foliage. Bloomberg says the neighborhood may also be connected to Randall?s Island.
Construction is slated to begin next summer and should be completed in 2011.
