A Newark man attempted to hire someone who would kill a 13-year-old girl from Texas, according to an indictment released on Tuesday.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that 57-year-old Armando Conceicao contacted and met with someone from May 2021 through November 2021 to talk about plans to kill the teen.
Authorities say that Conceicao met with that person in Plainfield who told him that he knew a guy who was charging $15 to “solve the problem.”
Prosecutors say that person drove from New Jersey to Texas and photographed the teen’s home, a car belonging to her father and the surrounding area.
Conceicao faces several charges, including conspiracy to commit murder for hire.
Authorities say that the 13-year-old is safe.
