Election Day is now just days away, and the candidates at the top of the ticket are crisscrossing the state to rally supporters and win over undecided voters.

Gov. Kathy Hochul spent the day traveling from Albany to New York City, carving out half an hour to sit down exclusively with News 12's senior reporter Tara Rosenblum at a firehouse in Mount Vernon.

"My message is very clear," Hochul said, reflecting on her time in office. "I've been so honored to be the governor of this state. It's a very diverse state, and I understand the stresses that families are going through. I lived many of them."

Emphasizing her record on affordability, the governor pointed to her administration's efforts to lower auto insurance premiums, cut middle-class taxes and deliver energy rebates to put money back into residents' pockets. She also highlighted key initiatives aimed at protecting children, including restricting cellphones in schools and expanding access to breakfast and lunch for students.

"I'm a fighter to my core," Hochul said, "and when I have to stand up and fight... to make sure families have money back in their pockets and protect our kids, I know how to take care of people."

As the race enters its final stretch, the governor had a direct message for voters: "I'd be honored to have the support of everyone, and no one should stay home. No one should say this election is over because there is still so much on the line."

During her exclusive interview, Hochul also discussed her new legislation to combat human trafficking, along with her ongoing plans to address mental health and homelessness across the state.

Tune in on Friday for more of Rosenblum's exclusive conversation on News 12.
