Iconic eagle sign coming down at Anheuser-Busch brewery in Newark

An iconic symbol in Newark is coming down as ownership of the Anheuser-Busch brewery changes hands.

Cranes arrived Friday morning at the brewery to begin removing the illuminated eagle that has stood on top of the factory for decades.

The sign is expected to come down in the coming days.

The eagle has been a Jersey landmark for years, but with Anheuser-Busch selling the Newark brewery, the sign will be removed.

The company says all current employees will be offered full-time roles at other breweries.
