‘I definitely expect an increase in business now’: New Jersey officially lifts indoor mask mandate
Pre-pandemic life will begin
to return for many today as New Jersey officially lifts its indoor mask
mandate.
“It’s the start of a new-ish day,” says Zilie Louis, of Neptune. “So,
we’ll see how it goes.”
Like many other businesses, Meemom's Wall in Wall Township wanted this months ago,
and today, masks will be optional -- that's the approach beginning today at the
business. Many are heading inside with masks, and some without, including employees.
“I do
embrace the new,” says David Alexis, of Bayville. “I embrace the direction that
we are going toward and I hope that everything goes well and people stay safe
still.”

As for the
bottom line, owner Camryn Monteforte says the difference will have nothing to
do with masks.
“I think the big thing is dropping social
distancing, not so much the masks,” says Monteforte. “I think being able to not
have to worry about the six feet anymore and being able to put tables where
they’re supposed to be.”
Business owners
can decide how they’d like to proceed, with most making it clear with a sign on
the door.
