Hundreds of people gathered to protest a proposal to turn a Roxbury warehouse into an ICE detention center on Saturday.

Democratic congressional nominee Analilia Mejia was alongside over 800 protestors during the demonstration at Roxbury Town Hall.

"I was proud to stand with grassroots organizers and neighbors at the Roxbury Town Hall today to say loud and clear: we don’t want another ICE detention center in our backyard," she said in a post on Facebook.

This comes just days after the Department of Homeland Security announced it purchased the warehouse.

Some community members and local leaders have publicly opposed the plan since it was announced earlier this year.
