Students from 70 different schools were given a close-up look into the medical world Saturday.
More than 300 kids attended a program called Student Doctor for a Day in Newark, sponsored by the New Jersey Medical School. The students were given a chance to learn about human anatomy as they handled a real brain, lung and heart.
While the program introduced the youngsters to the complicated world of medicine, it also gave medical students a chance to improve their social interaction skills.
"Today's thing was about humanism, which is about how doctors are trying to become more involved with the human dimension of their patients," said Dr. Dorian Wilson.
The visitors were advised to have passion, drive and study a lot if they have any intention of joining the profession in the future.
