A system with much colder temperatures will be pushing into the tristate area this week, bringing subfreezing conditions that will be sticking around.
With wind gusts upwards of over 20 mph possible, this could bring wind chills in the single digits for the overnight and morning hours.
Humans and pets alike will have to be safe with these frigid temperatures.
Make sure to manage pets' time outside as they get just as cold as humans.
Protect their paws by having them wear shoes, reduce their time on freezing pavement to prevent frostbite and burns, and keep them away from salt which could be dangerous on their paws.
Also, check under cars as many animals seek shelter underneath vehicles to seek protection from the wintry weather.
