A house fire in South Orange sent a family scrambling for safety Wednesday morning.
At least five family members were able to escape the blaze that broke out in a Waverly Place home. Firefighters from several surrounding communities helped put out the two-alarm fire. Some firefighters also had to hold back one family member who wanted to go inside for important documents.
Fire investigators determined the cause of the fire to be an electrical condition in the basement. They consider it accidental. For now, the family cannot get back into the home. However, the Red Cross is helping the family with emergency housing.
