A house fire in Lincoln Park has destroyed a home on Randolph Street, leaving a family of five and their two dogs without a place to live. Everyone made it out safely.
The fire caused significant damage, with nearly every window shattered and heavy damage to the side of the house by the attached carport.
Firefighters from multiple towns, including Lincoln Park, Boonton, and Wayne, responded to the scene, with police and EMS also in attendance.
The Lincoln Park fire chief reported that it was a difficult fire to put out, as the side and back of the house were engulfed in flames when they arrived. The call came in at 9 a.m. and firefighters knocked it down in an hour, staying to put out hot spots until just before noon.
A neighbor, Dan Girlando, described the scene as chaotic, with flames engulfing the house and embers landing on nearby roofs. He found embers on his own roof and had to use a garden hose to put them out.
The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
