Authorities say a homeowner fatally stabbed a man who allegedly broke into a home in Newark.

The incident happened near the intersection of Van Buren and Ferry streets. 

Police say the homeowner was sleeping when a man broke into the home. The homeowner managed to grab a knife from the kitchen and stab the alleged burglar, according to police. The suspect collapsed outside the home.

Officials have not identified any of the individuals involved in the incident. No charges have been filed against the homeowner.
