Hoboken saw a little more than 4 inches of snow on Friday. Most of it is already gone from the city’s roadways, but officials are now warning residents about slick conditions for the evening.
North Jersey’s first taste of winter for the season did not stop many Hoboken residents from going about their lives. Many were out doing what they had to do. School in Hoboken was on, but there was a delayed opening.
Hoboken officials said that crews were ready to clear the streets.
“We started this morning at 12 and had eight plows with spreaders. The county brought us an additional seven for country roads,” said Sgt. William Montanez.
There was a water main break in the middle of the storm on Bloomfield Street. It wasn’t very large but did create a bit of a mess just as the snow cleanup began.
The cleanup process began even before the snow stopped. Many were hoping to get rid of what they could before the temperatures dropped even further.
“The weather will drop, and colder roads will be wet. We’ll be out there salting, but be cognizant of icy conditions and slowdown,” said Montanez.
Many towns, including Hoboken, require property owners to remove snow from their front walks within five or six hours after a storm.
