Hoboken gym renamed in honor of city resident fatally shot in April
A gym in Hoboken was renamed in honor of a 21-year-old man who was fatally shot in the city earlier this year.
The gym located at 605 Jackson St. will now be known as the Damon Murray Community Gym.
Murray will also be posthumously named a member of the Hoboken Fire Department. He was on a path to becoming a firefighter before his death.
Murray was killed on April 28. He was previously a walk-on member of the Rutgers football team, according to the Hoboken Schools superintendent. He left the university in 2021, according to Rutgers officials.
Albert Morales, 33, of North Bergen, was charged in connection to the shooting.
