Three Monmouth County school districts have voted to merge into one.

Voters approved regionalizing the Highlands, Atlantic Highlands and Henry Hudson school districts.

Polls closed at 8 p.m. Tuesday in a special election.

Each district currently has only one school and separate boards of education.

The vote means the regionalization process must begin within 30 days. It must be completed by July 2024.
