Fears a massive retaining wall might collapse due to heavy rains has forced several families out of their Bergen County homes.
Four multi-family homes on Farnum Avenue in Lodi were evacuated in response to the storm. Town officials forced the residents out due to rising safety concerns resulting from the heavy precipitation.
Evacuated residents say they are fed up, as the fear of a collapse has been an ongoing concern.
"It's frustrating, because it's not just something that happens today, it's been happening for years," says Lodi resident Isa Dere.
Residents say the issue stems from a conflict over who will pay for a new wall. Landlords are allegedly fighting for the city to fund repairs or a new wall. According to residents, the city won't foot the bill since its private property.
