The New Jersey Health Department says that an additional case of the omicron variant of COVID-19 has been identified in New Jersey. This brings the number of cases of the variant up to two.
Officials say that the case involves a Monmouth County man who attended an anime convention at the Javits Center in New York City in November. Several other cases of the omicron variant in the region have also been linked to this event.
Officials say that the Monmouth County man became ill on Nov. 21, but was not hospitalized. He experienced a mild illness and had since recovered. Officials say that he was fully vaccinated and had recently received a booster shot.
State health officials continue to urge all New Jersey residents who are eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine. They say that this is still the best way to protect against the virus.
