A head-on collision in Westchester County, New York claimed the life of a New Jersey woman Monday.

According to police, a car crossed the center line on Route 22 in Goldens Bridge and slammed into a car traveling in the opposite direction. The motorist who was driving behind the vehicle that was hit says the accident happened so fast, he had no time to get out of the way. The driver of the car that was hit was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car that crossed the median was taken to the same hospital, where she later died.

Police identified the deceased driver as 24-year-old Amira Hajismaiel from Paterson. According to police, a search of the woman?s vehicle turned up a vial of marijuana. Police do not know if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
