Hackensack joined the nationwide efforts to help Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Hackensack Mayor John P. Labrosse Jr. and Joseph Barreto, of the Latin American Democratic Association, led a donation drive Sunday for items that will be sent to Puerto Rico.
The drive was held at 410 E. Railroad Ave. in the parking lot behind the Public Works Department building.
Items donated included water, toiletries, diapers, canned goods and batteries.
The donations will be loaded onto a barge and shipped to Puerto Rico by the end of the week.
