Guttenberg residents expressed frustration Wednesday about the lack of action in turning a vacant field into a waterfront park.
According to Mayor Gerry Drasheff, plans for the park?s construction were changed over the last few months. He is now waiting for approval from the state Department of Environmental Protection, but hopes the construction will start soon and the park will be open by June.
The city received a Green Acres Grant from the state to buy the land more than three years ago. The grant combined with the money to develop the park amounts to $2 million in taxpayer dollars.
So far, the only work completed on the land was a trash cleanup.
?I can't help but feel disappointed about it,? Jamie Witcher, a Guttenberg resident, says.
