One Bronx group is working with the city to unearth a babbling brook sitting below a broken basketball court.A group called Friends of Brook Park is asking the city for permission and the resources necessary to tap into the natural water source now covered by buckling asphalt. They say the brook sits 20 feet below the surface and was covered during industrial development after the Civil War. With help, they hope to create a natural wetland feature in the Bronx they will call Harmony Grove.Assembly Member Carmen Arroyo (D-NY) is working on the project with the group. She says the money needed to tap into the natural source may not be in the city?s budget but spoke about the possibility of a man-made feature. The project has no timeline yet, but Friends of Brook Park hopes to break ground by the end of the year.
