Groom-to-be accused of sexually assaulting bridesmaid 2 days before wedding
Pennsylvania state police say a groom-to-be sexually assaulted one of his wife’s bridesmaids two days before his wedding.
According to prosecutors, Daniel Carney, 28, of Stroudsburg, has been charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of an unconscious person and indecent assault.
Authorities say the victim, a 29-year-old woman from Oregon, said she was sexually assaulted at a hotel back on Aug. 30 in Smithfield.
Police say surveillance footage showed the groom pulling the woman to the hotel's men's locker room, where the alleged assault took place.
The woman told police she was in town to attend Carney’s Sept. 1 wedding and said the assault occurred in the downstairs men’s locker room.
A friend says the couple did go through with the wedding.
