A Bergen County newlywed man allegedly ran out on his wife, taking a small fortune along with him.
Margaret Acosta, of Lodi, obtained approximately $300,000 from a fen-fen diet pill court settlement. She says her 31-year-old husband Henry Acosta convinced her to replace her name on the bank account with his. According to Margaret, on Thursday, November 16, her groom of two months took off with $13,000 worth of jewelry and a bank-issued check that cleared out the account.
The bride's attorney says he has already filed a motion to freeze the assets. Margaret and her lawyer are also working with Lodi Police, the FBI and the bank's fraud unit to rectify the situation. Henry's stepmother claims his family does not know where he went.
