Gov. Phil Murphy toured damage in Lambertville left over by Ida Monday morning - with one young couple's home literally lifted off its foundation.
Nick Cepparulo says he and his wife grabbed their 6-year-old and 1-year-old children and made a run for it as water from a very small nearby creek quickly became an out-of-control river.
Murphy met with the family to tell them that a Major Disaster Declaration has been declared in Hunterdon County.
"The Major Disaster Declaration means individuals are now eligible for money in those counties," Murphy says.
The other counties with the declaration at the moment include Bergen, Gloucester, Middlesex, Passaic and Somerset.
The governor says getting other New Jersey counties included is a work in progress.
A GoFundMe page has been created for the Cepparulos and other Lambertville families. No injuries were reported.
