Gov. Phil Murphy is set to announce more reopenings on
Monday during his COVID-19 briefing.
The governor tweeted that he will announce new reopening
plans regarding easing restrictions as well as ramping up vaccinations.
That news is music to the ears of some restaurant owners who
are still struggling. New Jersey is at 50% capacity for indoor dining
currently. Restauranteurs say that's still not enough to keep their heads above
water.
They're hoping the governor will be announcing a full
reopening by the summer like the announcement New York City Mayor Bill de
Blasio recently made.
“I'd like to see it when it actually happens,” said
Gioacchino Gulino, the executive chef at Alfonso's Family Trattoria in
Somerville. “We've heard this story before.”
In the governor's tweet he mentioned New Jersey’s COVID-19
numbers are trending in the right direction with just over 3 million residents
fully vaccinated.
News 12 will carry the briefing live at 1 p.m. Monday.
