Gov. Phil Murphy signed legislation on Friday to permanently establish the Community College Opportunity Grant Program.
The program will grant free tuition for 50,000 New Jersey college students.
“Today we make Community College Opportunity Grants, not merely a matter of doing what’s right to advance the dreams of our next generation, but we make advancing the dreams of our next generation a matter of state law,” Murphy said.
Students who live in New Jersey and have an adjusted gross income of $65,000 or less are eligible to receive the grant for a total of five semesters.
