Gov.-elect Mike Sherrill delivered her last remarks on the House floor as a congresswoman on Wednesday.

The Democratic congresswoman was elected earlier this month to serve as New Jersey’s newest governor.

Sherill spoke in opposition to a bill that does not extend Affordable Care Act tax credits.

“Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition to a rule for a bill that does nothing to protect over 450,000 New Jerseyians who will see their health care premiums skyrocket,” Sherill said.

Sherill says she intends to submit her resignation in Congress next week so she can “turn to protecting all of New Jersey.”
