A good Samaritan helped three people escape a two-alarm fire at a house in Allenhurst Monday morning.
News 12 New Jersey’s Jim Murdoch was told no one was seriously injured.
Multiple crews from nearby fire departments, including Deal and Asbury Park, responded to the scene on Hume Street.
Some of the victims told News 12 they were sleeping in their second-story bedroom when they heard banging on the front door. They say a good Samaritan was banging on the door and warned them of the fire.
Once they ran outside, the victims said they saw smoke coming out of the back of the home and a significant amount of damage.
The victims told News 12 they don’t know who the person was that knocked on their door. They say if that person didn’t make a lot of noise and didn’t knock on the door, they would have still been upstairs in the house.
