Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Tuesday morning a new incentive for New Yorkers to get their COVID-19 vaccine: a chance to win playoff tickets for the Brooklyn Nets.
This applies to residents who get vaccinated at the new mobile vaccination site that opened at Barclays Center.
Residents who get vaccinated there can also get free Nets merchandise.
The mayor says the Barclays site will focus on getting the vaccine to residents from neighborhoods hardest hit by the pandemic that were recognized by the Task Force on Racial Inclusion and Equity.
People from those neighborhoods who already got their vaccine will also be able to enter for a chance to win tickets.
John Abbamondi, the CEO of the Nets and Barclays Center, says the arena will be expanding to as close to full capacity as it can for playoff games.
He says most people will be required to be fully vaccinated to get into the building, but there will be smaller sections for people who are unable to get vaccinated.
