(03/12/07) LYNDHURST ? A gas line break forced the evacuation of about 50 homes and two schools in Bergen County Monday afternoon.
Lyndhurst High School and Franklin Elementary School were both evacuated as a result of the leak, which took place around 1:15 p.m. on Weart Avenue. A contractor apparently damaged the line while working on a new building going up in the area.
Crews were on the scene all day to repair the damage.
