Children at a Maplewood elementary school were briefly evacuated Thursday after gas fumes entered their classrooms.
The Jefferson Elementary School superintendent says the fumes came from open gas cans a weed whacking crew was using. According to the superintendent, a breeze blew the fumes into the ventilation system and they were spread throughout the school. The school was evacuated when children started to feel sick.
Some of the parents chose to have their children taken to the hospital. However, the EMTs say there weren?t any real emergencies. Classes were resumed after the incident, but some parents pulled their kids out of school for the day.
