The Garden State Plaza Mall in Paramus has announced some changes to policies regarding teenage visitors.
The mall now says that guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or “supervising adult” age 21 or older after 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
“Unsupervised youth shopping prior to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings must leave the mall by 5 p.m. or immediately be joined by a parent or supervising adult age 21 or older,” officials stated on the mall’s website.
Officials also say that proof of age may be required and that those without proper identification may be asked to leave the mall.
One supervising adult may only accompany up to four teens. Mall officials say that the limitation does not apply to children under the age of 10.
News 12 New Jersey has reached out to mall officials to find out what may have prompted the change, and is waiting to hear back.
