State police: 2 killed in multivehicle crash on Garden State Parkway in Paramus

According to state police, 38-year-old Diana Cruz was driving a Honda northbound against the flow of southbound traffic on the parkway.

A man and a woman were killed during a multivehicle car crash this morning on the Garden State Parkway in Paramus, according to state police.
The crash happened at 2:27 a.m. near exit 163, off of Route 17.
According to state police, 38-year-old Diana Cruz was driving a Honda northbound against the flow of southbound traffic on the parkway.
Police say a Toyota SUV, driven by 55-year-old Sunday Ogundare, was traveling southbound on the parkway. The Honda collided with the front of the Toyota.
Cruz and Ogundare, both from Newark, were killed as a result of the crash.

The passenger of the Toyota, a 20-year-old female from Pompton Plains, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital, police say.
Video of the crash shows two cars smashed in the front. First responders surrounded the destroyed vehicles and car parts that were scattered on the side of the road.
All lanes were blocked this morning with cars allowed to drive on the shoulder to pass by. Exit 163 to Route 17 remained open.
The crash remains under investigation.
