Residents in Morrisania are demanding Monday that something be done to fix a gaping hole in the sidewalk outside 1142 College Avenue.
The residents say the hole has been in front of the building for years, but say it has gotten worse. They say the water released from a nearby fire hydrant over the summer caused the sidewalk to disintegrate even further. Residents say the hole poses a hazard to everyone, especially kids and the elderly.
No violations have been filed on the Department of Building's Web site. According to the department, it's the building management's responsibility to fix the hole. But residents say management has told them it's the city's job to fix the problem.
