(10/09/06) HAMILTON ? A program is helping former U.S. soldiers start their own business in New Jersey and across the U.S.
The Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative (VetFran) offers money and support to veterans hoping to delve into the business world. Alina Gutierrez, who served one year in Iraq, used the program to start a Glass Doctor in Hamilton. She says her experience as a financial officer and the start of her own business makes her feel as if the sky?s the limit.
Since 2003, VetFran has helped more than 400 soldiers. About 200 companies participate in the program.
